Just as the three wise men of the East followed a special star on their way to Bethlehem, Hospiss LV volunteers meet following a beautiful feeling and pull of the heart - the desire to take time for compassion, attention, goodness, to stand up for the good of life and family, but to look around and to stand up for the vulnerable people in Latvia - to be there and to dispel loneliness, to support with presence, song, conversation, as everyone is able and capable, seriously ill, dying people and their families.
This evening we looked back at what we have achieved in the last year and discussed our plans for the coming year. We were especially happy to meet in the new premises on Raina Boulevard! Although it is a bit sad to say goodbye to the cosy atmosphere in Agenskalns, the opportunity to meet and work a step away from the Freedom Monument is very inspiring!
We would like to say a special thank you to all the volunteers!
Many thanks also to the supporters of the evening:
Thank you to our wonderful, versatile artist Elīna Līce, who not only warmed us up with the sound of her trumpet, but also introduced us to her book of poems "I See" and taught us how to open our hearts and create our own poetry! We hope that our volunteers will have gained another tool to replenish their emotional reserves and shine bright in the New Year!
Thanks to Evia and her wonderful colleagues from ShowHeroes Group Latvian branches, who not only served the volunteers with delicious pretzels and refreshing drinks, but also handed out lovely homemade cards with heart-warming wishes!
We would like to thank our friends at Megazin advertising agency, who gave us the opportunity to give away ten Fox House gift vouchers for the most active volunteers!
Thank you Spruce Service for donating a Christmas tree not only at Stradiņš and Biķernieku Hospitals as part of the "Festive Table" charity project, but also here at the Hospiss premises, where a magnificent Christmas tree delighted staff and volunteers during the festive season.
