The project aims to raise public awareness of the importance of palliative and hospice care and to stimulate conversations about death, a topic that is often avoided. The programme is co-financed by the Society Integration Foundation and supported by TVNET Group.
The series of talks will explore the theme of death through the prism of history, anthropology, stories of personal experience, culture and philosophy. The aim is to reduce the fears and prejudices that surround the topic in society. The programme will be hosted by TV personality and Hospiss LV volunteer Liene Stepena and will feature people who are closely involved in hospice care on a daily basis.
"With this programme, we want to give a voice to topics that are often silenced in society. Death is a natural part of life - as important as birth. We wanted to create a format that is honest, humane and educational. The name "Deadly Interesting Conversations" is a deliberate paradox - it invites not to be afraid, but to be curious, to talk and to feel," says Ilze Zosule, co-founder of Hospiss LV.
The first episode, entitled "Intersections of Health, Social and Mental Care", is already available on the Hospiss LV YouTube channel and TVNET platform. It features Līga Malāne, chaplain and social worker at Hospiss Māja Ltd.
